EMPORIA STATE TENNIS SPLITS WITH AUGUSTANA ON SATURDAY

March 12, 2016-The Emporia State men's tennis team improved to 9-0 while the women fell for the first time this year in dual matches against Augustana on Saturday at the EHS Courts.
 
MEN'S ACTION
The Hornet men picked up wins by Patrick Cameron and Gerard Pont at #2 doubles and Collin Connor and Farhan Sadique at #3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. Emporia State would then win five of the six singles matches to win the dual 7-2
 
WOMEN'S ACTION
The Emporia State women got an 8-6 win at #2 doubles by Tawney Griffey and Amy Fugit, but that would be the only win against Augustana on Saturday. Griffet and Lori Ahuja both fell in three sets in singles play with Griffey falling 4-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) at #1 while Lori Ahuja went 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8) at the number two position.
 
 
UP NEXT
Both the men and women are scheduled to play East Central (Okla.) on Monday at the EHS Courts.  Tuesday's matches against Southwest Baptist have been postponed and will be made up on Saturday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m..
