February 6, 2016 - The #16 Lady Hornets fell to Pittsburg State in White Auditorium Saturday afternoon.
LARGE LEAD EARLY
Emporia State took an early 17-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game. Kelly Moten had eight of the Lady Hornets' first 17 points. Emporia State outscored the Gorillas 31-17 in the first quarter.
GORILLAS THIRD QUARTER
Pittsburg State outscored the Lady Hornets 20-10 in the third quarter to take the lead 51-50 going into the fourth. The Gorillas went on a 15-0 run lasting nearly four minutes in the third.
BY THE NUMBERS
Kelly Moten led the Lady Hornets with 22 points shooting nine for 14 from the field. Kathryn Flott had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Kelsey Barnwell joined in double digits with 14 points. Addie Lackey had four assists on the day. Emporia State outrebounded the Gorillas 42-32. Pittsburg State shot 30 for 35 from the free throw line compared to the Lady Hornets' 14 for 18. The Gorillas shot 36.5% from the field, Emporia State shooting 38.5% from the field.

The #16 Lady Hornets will host Southwest Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10 for another MIAA match up.
