January 7, 2016-All five starters scored in double figures as the #8 Lady Hornets defeated Central Oklahoma 74-63 on Thursday night in Edmond, Okla.
HOT START
The Lady Hornets got off to a fast start, scoring the first ten points of the game and Emporia State led 15-3 with 5:36 left in the period. It was teh first time this year the Lady Hornets had opened a game with a 10-0 run and the 15th 10-0 or better run in 14 games this season. The Bronchos would close the quarter on a 13-8 run to trail 23-16 going into the second.
NEVER IN DOUBT, NEVER SECURE
Emporia State would outscore Central Oklahoma 25-21 in the second and 15-13 in the third quarter, with the lead flucuating between five and 18 points forthe rest of the game. The Lady Hornets were able to score the first poitns of the third and fourth to extend their lead both times.Â
THE NUMBERS
All five starters reached double figuresfor the Lady Hornets led by Kathryn Flott's 17 points and ten rebounds. Kelly Moten had 16 points, six rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block while Addie Lackey scored 14 and Kelsey Barnwell and Sandra Ngoie each scored 11. As a team the Lady Hornets hit 12 three-pointers with Moten, Barnwell and Ngoie all making three.
CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Moten's 16 points give her exactly 1,000 in her career. She is the 28th Lady Hornet to score 1,000 points and the 14th to do it in three years or less.
