February 24, 2015-With two games already erased earlier this season and the threat of more winter weather looming this weekend, the #26 Emporia State baseball team has added a game at Newman. First pitch of the single nine inning game is set for 2 p.m. at McCarthy Field in Wichita, Kan.
The Hornets are 5-3 on the season and this will be their first road game of the year. Justin Harris is batting a team best .452 with ten runs scored on the season. Dean Long is hitting .344 with five home runs and 11 RBI. Five different pitchers have picked up victories for Emporia State, led by Garrett Brummett with a 1-0 record, 0.82 ERA, 17 strike outs and only one walk in 11.0 innings pitched.
The Jets are 5-5 after splitting a series with Wayne State over the weekend in Wichita. Garrett Thomas is hitting .419 with a home runa nd 12 RBI while Lucas Schauer is 2-1 with a 3.10 ERA on the mound.
A decision on the Hornets weekend series with Central Missouri will be made at a later date.
