#1 LADY HORNETS OPEN HAWAII TRIP WITH WIN OVER HAWAII PACIFIC

Emporia State gets double double from Ngoie in win

November 26, 2015-The #1 Lady Hornets celebrated Thanksgiving with a 63-53 win over Hawai'i Pacific in their first game at the Oahu Classic in Honolulu on Thursday.

NEVER IN DOUBT
Sandra Ngoie scored the first points of the game just 15 seconds in and the Lady Hornets never trailed in the contest.  HPU tied the score on a Breanna McKenzie bucket with 9:32 left but Ngoie hit a three-pointer to jump start a 9-2 run by Emporia State.  The Lady Hornets led 21-17 at the end of the first quarter and maintained a four point lead going into the half at 32-28.

THIRD QUARTER CONTROL
Emporia State outscored Hawai'i Pacific 16-11 in the third quarter to take control of the game. McKenzie scored the first points of the half for the Sharks, but the Lady Hornets answered with an 11-0 run to go up 43-30 with 5:55 left in the period. Four different players scored during the run for Emporia State.

THE NUMBERS
Ngoie recorded her first double-double as a Lady Hornet with 18 points and ten rebounds.  She was the only Lady Hornet to score in double figures but Kathryn Flott scored eight points with 11 rebounds while Addie Lackey chipped in nine points.  Emporia State outrebounded Hawai'i Pacific 55-36, the fourth time in five games the Lady Hornets had reached 50 rebounds in a game.
