November 27, 2015-Top ranked Emporia State rolled to a 29 point win over Hawai'i Hilo on Friday to improve to 6-0 on the season. The Lady Hornets won 82-53 over the Vulcans to go 2-0 on their trip to the islands.
SEMI SLUGGISH START
Playing a 9 a.m. local time, the Lady Hornets led just 20-16 after the first quarter. The Vulcans were within six points midway through the second quarter when Emporia State ended the half on a 14-6 run to take a 41-27 lead into the lockerrooms.
THIRD QUARTER EXCELLENCE
The Lady Hornets had another strong third quarter as they outscored the Vulcans 22-7 in the frame. An 11-0 run gave Emporia State a 54-30 lead with 3:45 left in the period.
FINAL PUSH
Emporia State would lead by as many as 34 in the fourth quarter at 77-43 with 3:36 left in the game.
THE NUMBERS
Kelsey Barnwell led the Lady Hornets with 21 points, three steals and three assists. Kelly Moten added 17 points and a team high six assists off the bench. Sandra Ngoie just missed her second straight double double with 10 points and nine rebounds.
