November 14, 2015-The top ranked Lady Hornets used a 25-15 third quarter to defeat Oklahoma Baptist 80-63 on Saturday at the SWOSU Classic in Weatherford, Okla.
TRAILING AT HALF
The Lady Hornets were trailing at half time 36-37, shooting 1-12 from the three point line. A 25-15 third quarter gave Emporia State a 61-52 lead, led by Kelly Moten with 16 points in the third quarter alone, eventually to total 25 points. Moten led the Lady Hornets on a 10-2 run to start the 3rd quarter, scoring all 12 points, to give Emporia State a 46-39 lead with 6:58 left in the quarter. The Lady Hornets would lead the rest of the quarter, and game, to finish 80-63.
HOT SECOND
The Lady Hornets improved their field goal percentage in the second half. Emporia State shot 46.9% in the second half after shooting 39.4% in the first half. The Lady Hornets were 9-13 (69.2%) at the stripe in the first half and were 11-12 (91.7%) in the second half.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
Kelly Moten had a game high 25 points, 5-5 from the free throw line to lead three Lady Hornets in double figures. Moten also had three assists and two steals. Kelsey Barnwell earned 15 points and four steals for the Lady Hornets. Jacee Kramer had 14 points in only 14 minutes of play, shooting 2-3 from the arc. Kathryn Flott led Emporia State with nine rebounds.
