HOME FOR TWO
The Emporia State soccer team returns to the EHS Pitch for a pair of games this weekend.  The Hornets take on Central Missouri on Friday night and Lindenwood on Sunday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
For the second straight match Emporia State went to double overtime in MIAA play, this time in a 0-0 tie with Ft. Hays State in Hays, Kan. on Sunday. It is the second shutout of the season for the Hornets.
The Hornets outshot the Tigers 8-6 in the first half, getting three shots on goal to just one for Ft. Hays State.  The second half was the opposite with FHSU getting five shots to three for Emporia State.  The Tigers outshot the Hornets 4-1 in the first overtime and got the only shot of the second overtime as well.
Yadira Rivera recorded her 11th career shutout as she saved eight shots for Emporia State. Grace Linton had four shots, two of them on goal for the Hornets.

THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 19-30-12 in his fourth year at Emporia State after a break through year in 2013 in which he led the Hornets to just the second winning record in the 13 year history of the program. He is 6-4-1 over his last 11 matches dating back to last year. He is 0-2-1 against Central Missouri and 0-1-1 against Lindenwood.
Lewis Theobald is 114-22-16 in his eighth season at Central Missouri. He is 10-0-1 against Emporia State.
Laurie Kaminski is 87-70-16 in her tenth year at Lindenwood. She is 1-0-1 against Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 3-1-2 on the season with their lone loss at #13 Winona State.  They are 0-0-2 in the MIAA. The Hornets have had eight people score a goal while the eighth person didn't score a goal until the 16th game last season. Grace Linton has three goals for the Hornets while Jordan Foutch has two goals and an assist on the season. Yadira Rivera has a 1.53 goals against average with two shutouts this season. She hold the Emporia State career record with 11 shutouts in her first two years.

SCOUTING THE JENNIES
Central Missouri is 5-0-1 on the year, 2-0-0 in the MIAA and ranked #17 in the NSCAA National Poll. They have only allowed two goals on the season, both in a 2-2 tie at the University of Mary. They have scored at least two goals in every match this season.  Julie Ireland is the leading scorer for the Jennie with three goals and two assists on the season. Ana Dilkes is undefeated in goal with a 0.32 goals against average and five shutouts.

LAST TIME AGAINST CENTRAL MISSOURI
Playing their third game in five days, Emporia State held #14 Central Missouri to a scoreless tie in double overtime to earn a key point in the MIAA standings.
Hornet keeper Yadira Rivera kept the Jennies out of the goal despite 14 shots on goal and 38 overall shots.  Emporia State had an opportunity to get the win on break aways in both overtime periods.  Mallory Walden had a one on one in the 94th minute while Kaitlyn Eden had another chance with just 1:13 left in the second overtime.
Rivera posted her fourth consecutive shutout and broke the Emporia State record for consecutive scoreless minutes at 395:45 over the last five games. 

SCOUTING THE LIONS
Lindenwood is 2-3-1 on the season and 1-1-0 in the MIAA.  They have played three overtime contests going 1-1-1 in those three matches.  Five different Lions have scored one goal with Kirsten Crabtree taking a team high 14 shots.  Melissa Weiss has spent the majority of the time between the pipes and is 1-2-1 with a 1.18 goals against average and two shutouts.

LAST TIME AGAINST LINDENWOOD
Emporia State battled to overtime in St. Charles, Mo. but Lindenwood picked up the golden goal in the third minute of extra play as the Hornets fell 1-0 in overtime.
The two teams played a conservative first half with just five total shots in the first half.  Both teams picked up the pace in the second half and Emporia State keeper Yadira Rivera had six saves in the second frame.
Miranda Huebner scored the game winner for the Lions with 6:38 left in the first overtime period.

SERIES HISTORIES
This will be the 24th meeting between Emporia State and Central Missouri. The Jennies lead the series 18-3-2 overall. 
This will be the third meeting between Emporia State and Lindenwood with the Lions leading 1-0-1.

UP NEXT
The Hornets begin a four game road trip with a tour of Oklahoma.  Emporia State plays at Northeastern State on Friday, October 3 and then travels to Central Oklahoma on Sunday, October 4.
