Box Score 2 Game 1 box in htmlGame2 box in htmlApril 26, 2014-The Emporia State baseball team finished the regular season with a series win at Lindenwood. The Hornets saw their winning streak reach 15 with a 1-0 win in the first game before falling 2-0 in game two in St. Charles, Mo.
Dakota McKaskle tossed a three hit shutout in the opener with all three hits coming in the first three innings. He did not allow a hit over his last 6.0 innings pitched and retired the final 12 batters he faced. In a pitchers duel the Hornets did not score the deciding run until the top of the seventh. Jordan Hodges led off with a double and would score Justin Harris' single.
The Hornets were shut out for just the third time this year in the nightcap. The Lions scored single runs in the third and fifth innings for the win.
Emporia State has secured home field for the MIAA Tournament Opening Round Series May 2-4. They will host a yet to be determined opponent in the best of three series at the Trusler Sports Complex.
