March 15, 2014-The Emporia State baseball team got solid pitching in a double header sweep of Missouri Western on Saturday at the Trusler Sports Complex. The Hornets won game one 8-4 and took the second game 5-1.
Shawn Talkington went 5.1 innings in the matinee allowing four runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. Justin Harris had the big hit with a bases loaded double in the first that scored three runs.
Kevin Shaffer allowed just one run on five hits with four strikeouts in the nightcap. Toby Cornejo had a two run double for the Hornets.
Emporia State will go for the series sweep on Sunday at 12 noon at the Trusler Sports Complex.
