Emporia State Baseball and #21 Hornet Softball hosting games

March 11, 2014-Tuesday will be a busy day at the Trusler Sports Complex as both the #21 Emporia State softball team and  the Hornet baseball team will be in action this afternoon at the complex. 

The Hornet softball team, now 15-4 on the year after sweeping MIAA double headers against Northwest Missouri and Missouri Western, will play host to Texas A&M-International in a double header starting at 3:00 p.m.  The Dustdevils are 11-16 on the year, 4-2 in the Heartland Conference.  Tuesday's double header are the first two games of a seven game swing through Kansas for TAMU-International.

Emporia State has six players with at least two home runs on the season, led by Andrea Piezuch with three round trippers.  Kaitlin Caston and Eryn Stockman have split the pitching duties this year with Caston at 11-3 on the year and Stockman at 4-1.

The Hornet baseball team improved to 10-6 on the year after taking three of four from then #14 Missouri Southern over the weekend.  The Hornets will host Washburn in a single nine-inning non-conference version of the Turnpike Tussle starting at 5:00 p.m.  This will be the first non-conference game for the Ichabods, who are 7-5 on the season.

Justin Harris is batting .377 with 18 runs scored, 14 RBI and 15 stolen bases to lead five Hornets with at least ten runs and ten RBI threough the first 16 games.  Shawn Talkington is 2-1 on the season with a team best 1.80 ERA in 25.0 innings on the hil.
