February 22, 2014 - After a day when the two teams combined for 33 runs the Emporia State Hornets and Central Oklahoma Bronchos each posted shutout wins on Saturday.

The Hornets used a three-run first inning to defeat the Bronchos in Game One 5-0, but then were shutout by UCO 2-0 in the night cap.

With the split the Hornets are now 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA.

Wade Hanna hit a 2-run single in the first inning to give the Hornets a 3-0 lead in the matinee. Shawn Talkington pitched six innings of scoreless ball, striking out seven Bronchos, to make that lead stand up. Tory Bell and Justin Harris each drove in a run in the win.

Broncho starting pitcher Rickey Reeves threw a one-hit shutout in the second game. He struck out six batters and gave up the lone hit on a double off the bat of Harris.

The two teams will conclude the four-game series Sunday with a noon first pitch at Glennen Field/Trusler Sports Complex.
