Jets Rally In Tenth To Give Hornets First Loss

February 19, 2014 - The Emporia State Hornets suffered their first loss of the season in a 7-6 ten-inning loss to the Newman Jets.

Dean Long drove in a go-ahead run in the top of the tenth inning, but the Jets rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the inning scoring the game-winning run on a bases loaded walk.

Long finished with two hits in the game as four Hornet batters had multi-hit games.

Justin Harris was 3 for 6 from the plate with two runs scored and one driven in. Levi Parker and Jordan Hodges each had doubled in the 14-hit attack.

The Hornets will open the MIAA season with four games against Central Oklahoma at Trusler Sports Complex's Glenn Field.
