November 2, 2014-In her final regular season game Jordan Foutch scored the lone goal in Emporia State's 1-0 win at Neb.-Kearney that will send the Hornets to the MIAA Tournament for the second straight year.
A scoreless first half saw the Lopers out shoot the Hornets by one at 5-4 while Emporia State had two corner kicks to none for Neb.-Kearney. Foutch scored the game winner in the 71st minute on a header off a pass from Ally Taylor. The defense held the rest of the way as Yadira Rivera recorded her seventh shut out of the year with just three saves.
With the win, Emporia State secured a winning regular season for the second straight year for the first time in school history. Emporia State is 7-6-5 overall and 4-5-5 in the MIAA. The Hornets will be the seventh seed in the MIAA Tournament and will play at Southwest Baptist on Wednesday, November 5 in Bolivar, Mo. It will be a rematch of the MIAA Tournament semifinals from last year in which the Bearcats won 2-1 in Olathe, Kan.
