October 12, 2014-Emporia State saw it's four match unbeaten streak come to an end on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 loss at Missouri Western. It is the first loss to an unranked team this year for the Hornets.
The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half with Yadira Rivera recording three saves in the opening 45 minutes to run her scoreless streak to over 400 minutes. Missouri Western took the lead three minutes into the second half on a goal from Tara Russell at the 47:52 mark.
Emporia State had five corner kicks to just two for the Griffons but were outshot 18-3 in the match. Rivera ended with six saves.
The Hornets are back in action on Friday night against Southwest Baptist. Kick-off from the EHS Pitch is set for 7:00 p.m.during Emporia State's Homecoming Weekend.
