SENIOR DAY
Emporia State hosts Northeastern State in the final regular season games at Trusler. It will be the last regular season home game for ten Hornet seniors - Ashton McCoy, Tyler Spencer, Eric Dawson, Zach Gove, Jordan Slade, Andrew Polly, Ben Jacks, Aaron Rea, Keith Picht and Zack Carlson.
THE COACHES
Bob Fornelli is 403-169 in his tenth season at Emporia State and is 709-282 overall in his 17th year overall. He is the fourth winningest active coach in Division II and is 19th in total victories. He has led Emporia State to two Division II World Series appearances in eight NCAA Tournaments. Fornelli has taken teams to the NCAA Tournament 11 times, and was the national runner-up in 2009 with Emporia State and in 2000 while at Ft. Hays State.
LAST AT-BAT
In a game shortened by lightning and rain Emporia State posted a 9-4 non-conference win over Bethany at the Trusler Sports Complex. A total of 12 pitchers were used in the game by the two teams. Matt Hinkley went 1.2 innings to get the win, allowing one run on two hits. Eric Dawson went three for four with two RBI and a run scored. Jordan Slade was two for four with a triple, two runs and an RBI while Aaron Rea was two for three with two runs and an RBI.
ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State has won 21 of the last 26 games to surge into third place in the MIAA. The Hornets are hitting .310 as a team and have scored 185 runs over the last 26 games. Eight pitchers have picked up at least two wins over the last 26 games. On the season Jordan Slade is batting .354 with eight doubles, six triples, five homers, 37 runs and 28 RBI. Dakota McKaskle is 5-4 with a 2.93 ERA while Kevin Shaffer is 3-1 with a 2.17 ERA.
SCOUTING THE RIVERHAWKS
Northeastern State is 25-19 overall, 23-18 in the MIAA and in sixth in the league standings. They are batting .318 with 64 home runs as a team. Cody Robinson is batting .336 with 13 doubles, 16 home runs and 54 RBI. The RiverHawks have a 6.74 team ERA. Craig George is 6-3 with a 6.62 ERA while Trevor Walch is 2-3 with a 4.57 ERA and eight saves.
THE SERIES
Emporia State trails the all-time series 3-2 after splitting a double header earlier this season. The two had not met since 2003 prior to this season.
LAST TIME VS. NORTHEASTERN ST.
Playing their first true road game of the season the Emporia State baseball team came from behind to defeat Northeastern State 7-5 in game one of a double header in Tahlequah, Okla. The RiverHawks won the second game 7-3.
Todd Schultz was two for three with three RBI and his second home run of the season. Aaron Rea scored two runs while Blake Sturgeon was two for four in the first game. Andrew Polly went 5.0 innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits to pick up his first win of the season in game one.
Keith Picht suffered the loss in game two despite scattering just six hits with seven strike outs over 6.0 innings. Jordan Slade had a two RBI homer and Todd Reller was the only Hornet with two hits in the second game.

Emporia State travels to Central Missouri in the final regular season series of the season. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
