February 3, 2013-The #40 Emporia State baseball team stranded ten runners in a 2-0 loss to Tarleton State on Sunday at the Astros in Action D-II Invitational at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

For the second straight day the Hornets got a solid outing on the mound.  Garrett Bane started and allowed just one run on five hits in 4.0 innings.  Kevin White allowed one unearned run in 2.2 innings  with four strike outs. Dylan McEwin, Parker McDaniel and Brenton Higgins combined to give up just one hit over the final 2.1 innings with five strikeouts.

The Texans got on the board in the fourth with a two out walk followed by a wild pitch and a single.  The second run  was the result of walk, outfield error, bunt single and then with two outs a bases loaded hit by pitch.

Offensively Eric Dawson and Skylar Angood both reached base three times, Dawson going three for four and Angood getting two hits and a walk. No other Hornet got a hit although every other spot in the lineup reached base either by walk, hit by pitch or fielder's choice.  Emporia State hit into three double plays, two of which ended an inning.

The Hornets will wrap up their four day stay in Houston on Monday against Arkansas Tech.  First pitch in Minute Maid Park is set for 10:00 a.m.
