OKLAHOMA BOUND

Emporia State will close out the regular season with two road matches in the Sooner State. The Hornets will face Northeastern State on Friday, November 1 an Central Oklahoma on Sunday, November 3.

LAST TIME OUT

The Hornets struck for six goals in their final home match of the season against Missouri Southern. Shannon Thomas and Bridget Wages each had two goals.

THE COACHES

Bryan Sailer is 15-27-9 in his third season at Emporia State and ranks No. 2 on the Hornets all time win list. Prior to coming to ESU he led Barton County Community College to a 59-23-2 overall record in four seasons. He led them to the KJCAA Championships during the 2008 season and was named Jayhawk Conference Coach of the Year after guiding Barton to an 18-4 record. He is 0-2-0 against the Riverhawks and 0-1-0 against the Bronchos.

Chase Wooten is 44-18-98 in his fourth  season as head coach at Northeastern State. He is 2-0-0 against Emporia State.

Mike Cook is 236-84-20 in his 16th  season as head coach at Central Oklahoma and 324-106-21 overall. He is 2-0-0 against the Hornets.

SCOUTING THE HORNETS

The Hornets are 8-6-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the MIAA. The Hornets are 1-0-1 against nationally ranked teams this season. Emporia State upset #19 Regis 2-1 in double overtime earlier in the season. The Hornets then played #5 ranked Central Missouri to a 0-0 tie in double overtime. Emporia State has a program record eight shutouts on the year. Two wins this weekend would give the Hornets ten for the season which would tie the 2001 and 2004 squads for most in school history.

KNOW THE FOES

Northeastern State is 13-3 overall, 6-2 in the MIAA and have clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament. 

Central Oklahoma is 6-9-1 overall, 3-5-1 in the MIAA. and are in ninth in the MIAA..

LAST TIME VS. NORTHEASTERN

Northeastern defeated the Hornets 4-1 on Oct. 26, 2012 and lead the all-time series 2-0-0 against Emporia State.

LAST TIME VS. THE BRONCHOS

Central Oklahoma defeated Emporia State 1-0 on Oct. 28, 2012. The Bronchos are 2-0-0 all time against the Hornets.

TOURNAMENT SCENARIOS

Five teams have clinched spots in the MIAA Tournament. With 14 points the Hornets are tied for sixth. Emporia State can clinch a spot with one win or two ties this weekend or a Nebraska-Kearney win over Fort Hays State. The Hornets could finish as high as second with two wins and help.
