October 23, 2013 - Emporia State soccer defeated the Washburn Ichabods 1-0 on Wednesday in Topeka to sweep the Turnpike Tussle. The Hornets defeated the Ichabods  2-0 in September.

Jordan Foutch scored her second goal of the season off a deflected corner kick with less than eight minutes left in the match for the game winner. The Hornets had a 9-4 advanatge in corner kicks. Hornet goal keeper Yadira Rivera had four saves to finish with her seventh shutout of the season.

It's the first time Emporia State has swept Washburn in soccer since 2004.

Wednesday's match was a non-MIAA contest. With the win Emporia State improves to 7-6-2 overall on the season. It's the first time since the 2005 season that Hornet Soccer has won seven matches.

Emporia State will play their final home match of the season on October 27, against Missouri Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. at the EHS Pitch.
