TURNPIKE TUSSLE II IS A NON-CONFERENCE MATCH
Emporia State faces Washburn for the second time this season on October 23. The match between the Hornets and Ichabods will not count in the MIAA standings.

Emporia State got seven saves in goal from Yadira Rivera, but lost to Lindenwood 1-0.
THE COACHES
Bryan Sailer is 13-27-9 in his third season at Emporia State and ranks No. 2 on the Hornets all time win list for Women's Soccer coaches. Prior to coming to ESU he led Barton County Community College to a 59-23-2 overall record in four seasons. He led them to the KJCAA Championships during the 2008 season and was named Jayhawk Conference Coach of the Year after guiding Barton to an 18-4 record. He is 2-1-1 against the Ichabods.
Terry Collins is in his eleventh season as head coach at Washburn. He currently has a coaching record of 89-93-30 at Washburn. He is 14-4-1 against Emporia State.
SCOUTING THE HORNETS
The Hornets are 6-6-2 overall and 3-3-2 in the MIAA. The Hornets are 1-0-1 against nationally ranked teams this season. Emporia State upset #19 Regis 2-1 in double overtime earlier in the season. The Hornets then played #5 ranked Central Missouri to a 0-0 tie in double overtime. The win over Regis was the first victory over a nationally ranked team in the history of the program. Emporia State has shutout opponents seven times in 2013 which ties a program record for shutouts in a season with the 10-8-2 squad from 2004. McKenzie Koch and Tommi Bouknight lead the team with three goals scored. Yadira Rivera and Melanie Nuessen have combined for a 0.88 goals against average.
KNOW THE FOE
Washburn is 8-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the MIAA. Caysie Beetley is one of six Ichabods to have scored three goals in 2013. She leads the team in total shots with 35, 16 of which have been on goal. Tori Fuglister has started all 14 of Washburn's games in goal and has a 0.83 goals against average.
LAST TIME VS. WASHBURN
Emporia State defeated the Ichabods 2-0 on September 20, at the EHS Pitch. Kaitlyn Eden and McKenzie Koch scored goals for the Hornets in the win. Yadira Rivera had six saves in the first 2013 Turnpike Tussle.
IN THE MIAA
Hornet freshman goal keeper Yadira Rivera is second in the MIAA with a 6.42 saves per game average. Tommi Bouknight is tied for second in the MIAA with three game winning goals.
UP NEXT
The Hornets will play their final home match of the season at 2:00 p.m. on Oct. 27. Emporia State will play host to Missouri Southern before finishing the regular season on the road.
