Hornets drop first overtime match of season

October 18, 2013-Emporia State battled to overtime in St. Charles, Mo. but Lindenwood picked up the golden goal in the third minute of extra play as the Hornets fell 1-0 in overtime on Friday night.

The two teams played a conservative first half with just five total shots in the first half.  Both teams picked up the pace in the second half and Emporia State keeper Yadira Rivera had six saves in the second frame.

Miranda Huebner scored the game winner for the Lions with 6:38 left in the first overtime period. With the loss Emporia State drops to 6-6-2 on the season and 3-3-2 in the MIAA.  Lindenwood improves to 8-4-1, 5-0-1 in conference action.

The Hornets will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Washburn for a non-conference match.  Kick-off of the Turnpike Tussle is set for 6:00 p.m. in Yaeger Stadium at Moore Bowl.
