October 20, 2011 -- The Emporia State soccer team got nine shots in the second half as they came from behind to earn a 1-1 tie with Washburn. The Hornets and Lady Blues both finished with five shots on goal and ESU finished with 13 shots in total.
Washburn got on the board first in the 58th as Caysie Beetley scored on a pass from Leah Talley and Tia Stovall. The Hornets answered in the 76th minute as Karson Wilson took a corner kick from Mindi Lozenski to score her first goal of the season. Nikki Schmitz finished with four saves for the Hornets.
ESU will take the week off before facing Truman on Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. from Kirksville, Mo.
