Three seniors honored before match

October 16, 2011 -- The Emporia State soccer team fell 1-0 for the second straight Sunday against one of the top two teams in the MIAA. The Hornets got six shots three of which came on goal against the Bulldogs.

Truman got their goal in the 34th minute as Trisha Shoemaker dribbled the ball from just past midfield for the unassisted tally. Senior Jessica Decker had one of the three Hornet shots on goal as did Jordan Foutch and Mallory Walden. Nikki Schmitz had eight saves on the afternoon as she has allowed one goal or less this season eight times.

Seniors Kat Goscha, Jessica Decker, Holli Schletzbaum and Sarah Anderson were honored prior to the match.

ESU will return to play on Oct. 20 when they travel to Washburn for the Turnpike Tussle and a scheduled 6 p.m. kickoff.
