September 25, 2011 -- The Emporia State soccer team played to their fourth tie of the season as neither they or Lindenwood could get on the board in a 0-0 draw. The physical game saw 25 fouls and 40 total shots as the two teams played back and forth soccer all day.

For ESU Nikki Schmitz earned her second straight shutout and third of the season as she stopped a match high 11 Lion shots. Three shots forced diving stops from the ESU keeper as she got help with two team saves by the Hornets defensive backs. ESU's best chances came during the first half as one shot hit the post and a second went just wide. The Hornets finished with ten shots on goal while the Lions put 13 shots on frame.

The Hornets will take the week off before returning to the pitch on Oct. 2 for their MIAA opener against Missouri Southern at 2 p.m.
