June 5, 2026-Two future Hornets will meet on the volleyball court on Saturday night during the 2026 Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star Match in Topeka. Kyndal Moore will play for the Blue Team while Jade Xu will play for the Red Team.

Moore is a 6-1 middle blocker from Ellinwood, Kan.  She is a three-time All-Central Prairie League performer and two time Class 2A All-State selection who led Ellinwood to a perfect 47-0 record and KSHSAA Class 2A state championship last season.

Xu is a 6-1 outside hitter/opposite hitter from Emporia, Kan. She was a four-time First-Team All-Centennial League performer and finished her career with over 1,000 digs and 1,000 kills for Emporia HS. She is the daughter of former Emporia State head coach coach Bing Xu.

Both players graduated high school early and have spent the spring semester at Emporia State.

The players selected were first nominated by their high school coaches (who must be KVA members) and then recommended by a committee to fill the squads based on achievements, positions, classifications, collegiate plans and availability.

Emporia State went 21-7 last season with a 12-4 mark in the MIAA.  The Hornets tied for fourth in the Association and were just one game behind a three-way tie for the conference championship.  They spent four weeks in the AVCA National Top 25 and ended the regular season ranked #25 in the coaches poll.  The Hornets were #21 in the final KPI national rankings and were eighth in the last published NCAA Division II Central Regional Poll.
