March 27, 2026 – Emporia State baseball dropped the series opener against #15 Rogers State 14-0 on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets had two batters reached in the top of the first by walk, but both were picked off to end the inning which proved to be the only two runners of the afternoon for the Emporia State offense.
Rogers State put together three big innings in the game, which began in the first frame that saw three hits and a pair of Hornet errors resulting in three unearned runs for the Hillcats. The Hillcat lead remained at 3-0 through the third inning before the hosts tacked on four more runs on three hits, including a three-run home run by Andres Contreras to make the score 7-0.
Emporia State's offense continued to struggle as the game progressed and Rogers State doubled their total with a seven-run sixth, which three hits and an error to make the score 14-0.
The Hornets were unable to extend the game with any offense in the seventh as the Hillcats sealed the 14-0 win in game one of the series.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State was unable to record a hit in the game and drew just two walks on the afternoon.
