March 20, 2026 – Emporia State rolled to a 15-0 run-rule win on Friday afternoon against New Mexico Highlands, as the Hornets tallied 15 hits and got a complete game from
Seth Stover on the mound.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For the third straight game, Emporia State scored in the first inning, as a baserunning play pushed across the first run of the afternoon to put the Hornets ahead.
After Hornet starter
Seth Stover, retired the Hornets in order in the first with a pair of strikeouts, he had to work around traffic in the second but kept the Cowboys off the board.
Emporia State doubled their lead in the third on a sac fly by
Frankie Santiago to make the score 2-0. The first big inning for the Hornets came in the fifth as they scored four runs on RBI from
Nathon Cruz,
Brady Unrein and
Cooper Schwindt and a double steal to take a 6-0 advantage.
Stover continued his strong outing in the sixth, setting the Cowboys down in order before the Hornets put together a nine-run sixth, which matches their second highest inning total this season.
Five walks, three hit batters, and four hits propelled the Hornets to a 15-0 lead. Six different Hornets picked up an RBI in the inning, which included three from
Noah Steele on a long ball, two from
Logan Myers and the first career RBI for
Owen Goode on a pinch-hit infield single.
Seth Stover returned for the seventh inning and needed just nine pitches to cap his complete game and his fourth win of the season.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State's 15 runs marks the fourth time this season with 15 or more runs in a game, and their 13th game with double-digit runs scored. They tallied 15 hits spread across ten hitters.
Logan Myers went 3-4 with two RBI and three runs scored, picking up his tenth multi-hit game this season.
Noah Steele also added three hits, including a three-run homer in the sixth inning, his eighth of the season and 23rd of his career.
On the mound,
Seth Stover tallied his first career complete game and matched his career-high with 7.0 innings pitched. The junior matched his career-high with five strikeouts and allowed just three hits on the afternoon.
