The Lady Hornets take on Missouri Southern in a Saturday afternoon matinee at White Auditorium.

ABOUT THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 12-10, 6-7 in the MIAA.  They are fourth in the MIAA in assists. Gracie Gilpin leads the MIAA in three-pointers made per game and averages 12.6 points per game. Kaitlyn Sanders is fourth in the MIAA at 15.8 points per game.  

ABOUT THE LIONS
Missouri Southern is 16-5, 10-2 in the MIAA and is oneof three teams in the MIAA with just two league losses. They lead the MIAA in rebounding and are second in scoring offense. Ashlyn Alloway is third in the Association in both scoring at 16.0 points and rebounding at 8.8 boards per game.

ABOUT THE COACHES
MJ Baker is 12-10 in her first season with the Lady Hornets and is 63-56 in her fourth year as a head coach at a four year institution. She has won 346 games as a collegiate coach and comes to Emporia State after an eight year run at Eastern Florida State College.  She went 183-58 with three conference championships and three trips to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament during her time at EFSC.  This is her first meeting with Missouri Southern.
Ronnie Ressel is 164-126 in his tenth year at Missouri Southern. He is 5-5 against Emporia State.

The Lady Hornets lead the overall series 58-29 but the teams have split the last ten games. The home team has won ten of the last 12 matchups.

LAST TIME VS MISSOURI SOUTHERN
The Lady Hornets were held to two field goals over the last 4:51 of an 85-68 loss at Missouri Southern in Joplin. Jayla Cornelius scored back to back lay-ups to bring Emporia State to within 71-63 going into the final media timeout.  The Lions went on a 10-0 run to take an 81-63 lead with 1:44 left to seal the game. Cornelius had a team high 20 points while Makenzie McDaniel scored 16 points with nine rebounds.

LAST TIME OUT
In a game where neither team led by more than five, Emporia State pulled out a 65-63 ranked win against 15th-ranked Pittsburg State on a buzzer-beater by Vanessa Coleman. Cambrie Phillips scored with 2.4 seconds left to give Pitt State a 63-62 lead. After a timeout Coleman hit a three from the left wing for the win. Coleman led all scorers with 22 points while Kaitlyn Sanders and Gracie Gilpin added 14 and 13 points. Kaylin Noonan recorded a team-high eight rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Lady Hornets travel to #8 Fort Hays State on February 12. Tip-off from Gross Coliseum is set for 5:30 p.m.
