March 24, 2026-The Emporia State Hornet and Lady Hornet basketball teams combined for seven Academic All-District as selected by College Sports Communicators.
Chris Harris,
Olafur Styrmisson and
Mason Wujek of the men's basketball team along with Lady Hornets Lexsey Dewitt,
Macey Gandee,
Gracie Gilpin and
Kaylin Noonan were all named CSC Academic All-District for their work in the classroom.
Lexsey DeWitt has a 3.84 GPA in biology. She started seven of 27 games played and shot .344 from the three-point line. She scored a career high 11 points against Northwest Missouri.
Macey Gandee has a 3.61 GPA in biology. She started 29 of 30 games and averaged 8.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game. She had a career high 20 points against Missouri Western and grabbed 11 rebounds against both Southwest Baptist and Lincoln.
Gracie Gilpin has a 3.74 GPA in computer science. She started 29 of 30 games and was named Third-Team All-MIAA. She averaged 13.1 points per game and was second in the MIAA with 69 made three pointers. She is ranked 28
th on the Lady Hornets career scoring list with 1,053 points. Her 226 career made three-pointers rank third all-time and are the most by a Lady Hornet that only played three seasons.
Kaylin Noonan has a 4.00 GPA in nursing. She started 17 of 30 games on the season and averaged 5.1 rebounds per game. She had four double figure rebound games with a career high 13 boards against Lincoln.
Chris Harris has a 3.77 GPA in business. He started 26 of 27 games played and averaged 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He had a career high 24 points against Fort Hays State and grabbed ten rebounds against St. Cloud State, Central Oklahoma, and Fort Hays State.
Olafur Styrmisson has a 3.95 GPA in business. He started 21 of 28 games and shot .699 from the field. He had a season high 11 points against Neb.-Kearney and grabbed 11 rebounds against Pittsburg State.
Mason Wujek has a 3.67 GPA in business. He started five of 27 games played this season. He had season highs of ten points and 14 rebounds against Central Missouri.
To be nominated, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests/sets played OR must start in at least 66 percent of the games with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Schools are limited to a maximum of four players per team in basketball.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees for the men will be announced April 14 with the women to follow on April 15.
The Division II CSC Academic All-America® program is partially supported financially by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the program.
