October 19, 2026 - Ryann Hamilton was named MIAA Defensive Athlete of the Week after standout performances in a pair of Emporia State wins last week.

Ryann Hamilton dominated at the net in the first match of the MIAA In-Season Tournament, tallying two solo blocks and 11 total as the Hornets swept Northwest Missouri to begin the weekend. On Saturday, against fifth-ranked Nebraska-Kearney, Hamilton again made her presence felt in the middle, adding six more blocks as the Hornets took down the Lopers in four sets.

Hamilton finished with three solo blocks and 17 total blocks in Emporia State's two wins. Her 11 blocks against the Bearcats set a new career-high, and is the first double-digit block performance for Emporia State this season.

Emporia State is 19-3 this season and will be back in action on Friday, October 23 as they travel to Joplin, Mo. for a matchup with Missouri Southern. First serve between the Hornets and Lions is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
