September 21, 2025 - Emporia State soccer shutout CSU-Pueblo on Sunday afternoon on their way to a 2-0 win in their final nonconference match of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets had control of the match from the opening kickoff, tallying two shots and two corner kicks in the first ten minutes. Emporia State broke through in the 14th minute, as
Ella Favot scored her first career goal to put the Hornets ahead 1-0.
Over the next 30 minutes, the Hornets and Thunderwolves managed just three shots as the Hornets held their 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

Following the break, both teams had opportunities, which included a shot by
Abby Bachman in the 48th minute that forced a save, and a Thunderwolves chance that hit the post to deny an equalizer. The Hornets would break through again in the 70th minute, as
Avery Zimmerman doubled the Emporia State lead to 2-0.
The Hornets allowed just one shot in the final 20 minutes, as they held the hosts scoreless for their first shutout win of the season.

Ella Favot's goal in the 14th minute was the first of her career and
Avery Zimmerman's 70th minute score was her first of the season and second of her career. In goal,

Emporia State will begin MIAA action next weekend with matches on the road against Newman and Central Oklahoma upcoming. The Hornets are scheduled to take on the Jets on Friday, September 26 with kickoff set for 3:00 p.m.
