Hornet Soccer Falls to Rangers on Friday Night

Emporia State falls to (RV) Regis 3-1; Bracy scores for the Hornets

September 19, 2025 – Emporia State soccer fell behind early and was unable to mount a comeback, falling 3-1 against Regis on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Regis got the scoring started in the eighth minute on a direct ball through the Hornet backline which put the Rangers ahead 1-0. Nine minutes later, Fernanda Rodriguez, who scored the opener, doubled her tally and the Ranger lead to 2-0 in the 17th minute.

Emporia State tallied six first-half shots, and eventually broke through in the 37th minute, as Madeline Bracy scored her second goal of the season to cut the Regis lead in half.

In the first half, Regis outshot Emporia State 8-6, while the Hornets had all six shots register on target.

Following the break, the Hornets registered the first shot, as Megan Kephart took a shot in the 48th minute.

In the 51st minute, Regis would restore their two-goal advantage, but not after a hectic moment in the Emporia State box. The Hornets fouled the Rangers in the box, making way for a penalty kick, which was saved by Mackenzi Goen but a foul on the rebound resulted in another opportunity, which Regis converted to make the score 3-1.

Emporia State would tally just two more shots over the final 40 minutes, as the Hornets fell 3-1.

UP NEXT
