ROCKY MOUNTAIN ROAD TRIP
Emporia State's non-conference slate wraps up with a trip to Colorado for matches against Regis and CSU-Pueblo.

LAST TIME OUT
The Hornets hosted both UMary and Northern State in their first two home matches of the season, and came away with a pair of 3-1 wins on the weekend. Against UMary, the Hornets got goals from Peyton Pipes, Madeline Bracy and Hailey Gancarz in the first half. On Sunday, Emporia State conceded first, as the Wolves went ahead 1-0 in the 23rd minute before Megan Jeremias tied the match six minutes later. In the second half, Abby Bachman on a direct corner kick and Peyton Pipes on the half volley built a 3-1 advantage by the 63rd minute that the Hornets held onto the rest of the match.

ABOUT THE COACHES
Jane Grimley-Gunn is in year two at Emporia State in 2025 and has a 8-10-3 record with the Hornets.
Jeff Frykholm
is 35-23-6 in his fourth season at Regis and has made the RMAC tournament in each of his first three seasons.
John Constable is 1-2-1 in his first season at CSU-Pueblo and has 117 career head coaching wins at the NCAA level in 14 seasons.

TOP GUNN
Jane Grimley-Gunn is in year two at the helm of Hornet Soccer and is 8-10-3. Grimley-Gunn spent the previous two seasons as the head coach for Missouri S&T's women's program. In 2023, the Miners had their longest unbeaten streak to start a season since 1997 and made a trip to the GLVC Tournament for the fourth time in school history. She was 1-0-1 against the MIAA in her two years, defeating Missouri Southern and playing to a 0-0 tie against Washburn. Prior to her time in Rolla, Grimley-Gunn was the associate head coach at her alma mater Goldey-Beacom College for four years. In those four seasons, the Lightning went 48-24-4. She was also named a recipient of the "30 under 30" award by the United Soccer Coaches in 2019. 

A LOOK AT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 2-2 on the season, with the Hornets picking up two wins last weekend in their first two home matches. The Hornets took down UMary and Northern State with a 3-1 final score in both matches. Five different Hornets scored on the weekend, with Peyton Pipes being the lone player to score twice, once on a penalty on Friday and another in open play to cap the scoring on Sunday. Emporia State has tallied 48 shots through their first four matches, with nine each coming from Abby Bachman and Megan Kephart to lead the team. 14 players have played 120 minutes or more for the Hornets so far, with five playing at least 300 which includes Aubrey Seltman who has played all but 12 minutes to this point for Emporia State.

SCOUTING THE RANGERS
Regis is 3-1 on the young season, which includes a 2-1 win over #21 Seattle Pacific in their last match. In the attack, Elsa Nolen has featured for the Rangers, scoring a team-high four goals so far. Six more players have scored through the first four matches. In goal, Helen Stegner has started all four matches in goal, and has a .789 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE THUNDERWOLVES 
CSU-Pueblo is 1-2-1 through the early stages of the season with all four matches coming against four LSC opponents. The Thunderwolves have managed just four gaols this season, with all three coming from different players. As a team, CSUP is averaging 9.3 shots per game with 18 attempts on goal. Alva Hellenius and Miya Begay have shared the time in goal so far this season, with Hellenius playing 249 minutes.
