August 14, 2025-The Emporia State cross country teams have begun preparations for the 2025 season.
Both the men and women held their first practice on Thursday, August 14 at 6:00 a.m.
The teams will head to Lawrence, Kan. on Friday, August 15 for comprehensive running assessments at RunStrong, a training program at LMH Health. Following their assessments the teams will go to Clinton Lake for practice, an overnight camping trip and a morning run around the lake before returning to Emporia.
Regular practices will begin on Monday, August 18 leading up to the ESU Alumni Run and Time Trial on Friday, August 29 at Champions Landing. The first regular season action will be on Saturday, September 6 at the JK Gold Classic in Wichita, Kan.
The Hornet men return three of their top four runners from last season. Sophomore
Dylan Hunter was the top finisher for Emporia State at both the MIAA Championships and the NCAA Central Regional.
Three of the top five Emporia State women return led by
Mason Bina. The senior was the top finisher for Emporia State in all six of her races last season.
