Gracie Gilpin and
Katie Horyna were named MIAA Scholar-Athletes while
Allie Ostermann earned the MIAA Academic Excellence Award to highlight six Emporia State basketball players, four Lady Hornets and two Hornet men, that were recognized by the conference for the academic accomplishments.

Gilpin has a 3.69 GPA as a junior in computer science and was named Honorable Mention All-MIAA. She led the MIAA and ranked sixth in the nation in made three-pointers per game this year while averaging 12.5 points per game.
Horyna has a 3.62 GPA in Health and Human Performance as a fifth year senior and was named Honorable Mention All-MIAA. She led the MIAA in minutes played this year while ranking sixth in assists and assist to turnover ratio.

To qualify as a Scholar-Athlete an individual must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.50 at the certifying member institution. The student-athlete must have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. If competing in a championship sport of the MIAA, the student-athlete must also earn All-MIAA honors from the 2024-25 season.Â
Ostermann is a graduate student with a 4.00 GPA in Information Technology. She made 24 three-pointers this year.

An Academic Excellence Award recipient must have a grade point average used by the institution for NCAA academic certification of at least 4.00 at the certifying member institution. The honoree also must have at least two terms of grades reported at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

Macy Smith is a senior with a 3.70 GPA in computer science. She played in 24 games with four starts last season for the Lady Hornets and appeared in 80 games in her four year career.

Chris Harris has a 3.71Â GPA in Business as a red-shirt freshman for the Hornet men. He averaged 7.3 points per game overall and 13.0 points over his final eight games.

Devin Conley has a 3.48 GPA in business as a red-shirt freshman for the Hornets. He started two of the 28 games he appeared and had a career high 16 points at Colorado Mesa.

To be recognized on the Academic Honor Roll, one must have a grade point average used by the institution for purposes of NCAA academic certification of 3.00 at the certifying member institution. The individual must also have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms.

These academic awards do not include first-year freshmen or first-year transfers. The MIAA will release its Newcomer Academic Awards from the 2024-25 academic year in late June.
