March 18, 2025-In a battle of four ranked teams Emporia State tennis came up short against UT-Tyler on Tuesday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

#12 UT-Tyler Men 4, #20 Emporia State 3
The #20 Hornets battled the #12 Patriots to the final tiebreaker in a 4-3 loss.
Hachen Fahem and
Roko Kacer picked up a 6-1 win at #3 doubles to get the dual underway.
Anton Sarunic and
Luke West fell 7-5 to #33 Artiom Dorofeev and Malo Puolesquen at #2 doubles.Â
Gwendal Mazuay and
Alexis Mattenberger gave the Hornets the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-3) win at #1 over the #3 doubles team in the country of Daniil Felker and Carel Wessel.
The Patriots picked up wins at #3, #4, and #5 to take a 3-1 lead. Emporia State came back with 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 win by

Anton Sarunic tied the dual with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win at #1 over sixth ranked Carel Wessel. At #2 singles
Mostafa Elbasnaly took #37 Artiom Dorofeev to a tiebreaker in the third set before falling 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) as UT-Tyler took the dual.

#31 UT Tyler Women 5, #38 Emporia State 2
The #31 Patriots won the first four points in a 5-2 win over the #38 Hornets.
UT-Tyler won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead into singles play. The Patriots went up 4-0 with wins at #5, #4, and #2 before
Perla Conde picked up a 6-7 (5-7), 6-1, 1-0 (10-8) win at #3 singles.Â
Giovanna Ferreira won 7-5, 7-5 at #1 to give the Hornets their other point.

Emporia State will wrap up their trip to Florida on Wednesday. The men will play #27 Florida Southern at the USTA Campus while the women will take on Texas A&M-Kingsville at the Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach.
