March 16, 2025-The #38 Emporia State women's tennis team dropped a close 4-3 decision to Lewis in their first competition at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. on Sunday.

The Flyers took the doubles point with a 7-5 win at #1 and a 7-6 (7-0) win at #2 to lead 1-0 going to singles play.

Lewis was a player down so Emporia State was tied 1-1 when the first singles action began on the court.Â
Perla Conde gave the Hornets a 2-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win at #3 singles and
Anastasia Pesic made it 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the #5 slot. The Flyers picked up wins at #2 and #1 to even things at 3-3. ESU's
Sheriden Wichman took the Flyers Bendetta Luccone to three sets before falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 at #4 singles to give Lewis a 4-3 victory.

The #38 Hornets will be back in action on Tuesday, March 18 when they take on #31 UT-Tyler at the USTA National Campus. First serve is set for 11:30 a.m. in Orlando, Fla.
