March 1, 2025-Emporia State had an event champion, school record, ten provisional qualifiers and advanced six to Sunday's finals on Saturday at the MIAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Maryville, Mo.

Jonah Remsberg got things started for Emporia State by winning the men's heptathlon. He was in third place to start the day, but finished second in the 60m hurdles in 8.49 and was third in the pole vault at 4.48m to move into second before the final event. He won the 1000m in a time of 2:52.72 while the leader after six events Doug Brown of Pittsburg State ran 3:05.24 to place eighth in the race. Remsberg's provisional qualifying score of 5265 is the second best in Emporia State history behind
Payson Maydew's 5363 set at the 2015 MIAA Championships.

Luke Grace gave Emporia State another placer in the multi-event with a provisional score of 5135 that ranks fifth all-time at Emporia State.

The Hornets also got provisional qualifying scorers in the men's high jump and long jump. Will Allen cleared a provisional qualifying bar of 2.04m (6-8.25) to place fifth in the high jump.
Ty Anderson had a provisional qualifier of 7.29m (23-11.00) to place sixth in the long jump.

Six Hornet men qualified for Sunday's finals.

Anderson set a school record in the men's 60m prelims. His time of 6.68 betters Josh Schuler's time of 6.71 set at the 2011 NCAA Championships and will advance him to the finals.Â
Kingsley Bennett also had a provisional qualifier in the 60m of 6.77 that ranks fifth all-time at Emporia State but just missed the qualifying mark for the finals at the MIAA this year.

Israel Domeh qualified for the finals in the 200m with the third best time in Emporia State history. His time of 21.26 moved in front of Anderson, who ran 21.47 to give the Hornets two in the 200m finals.

Israel Dukpe ran the second best 400m ever at Emporia State at 47.72 to qualify for the finals. Domeh also had a provisional mark of 48.26 put just missed the cutoff for the finals.

Cooper Schroeder rand the fifth best time in Emporia State history in the 800m to qualify for the finals. His time of 1:52.68 was the eighth best time on Saturday.

Braden Lipgens had the final qualifier out of the prelims for Emporia State. He ran 1:11.60 to make the finals of the 600 yard run.

The Emporia State women had two scorers on Saturday.

Lillian Zeigler placed seventh after clearing 1.59m (5-2.50) in the high jump.

The distance medley relay team of
Mason Bina,
Barbara Bentum,
Isabella Davie, and
Emma Bartholome ran 12:27.40 to place seventh.

The MIAA Championships will wrap up on Sunday at Hughes Fieldhouse on the campus of Northwest Missouri in Maryville, Mo.
