February 9, 2025-The Emporia State men's tennis team opened the spring season with a 7-0 victory over Ottawa at the Kossover Family Tennis Center on Sunday.

Mostafa Elbasnaly and
Hachem Fahem got things started with a 6-1 victory at #2 doubles. The duo of
Gwendal Mazuay and
Alexis Mattenberger gave the Hornets the doubles point with a 6-4 win at #3.

Anton Sarunic won 6-2, 6-1 at #1 to start singles play. Elbasnaly won 6-0, 6-3 at #3 and Fahem picked up a 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-0 win at #2 for Emporia State to clinch the dual.Â
Diego Calvo won 6-1, 6-4 at #4 and Mazuay took a 6-2, 6-2 win at #5 before Mattenberger won 6-0, 6-0 in his first collegiate match at #6 singles to close out the sweep.

The Emporia State men will be back in action in an exhibition match against Seward CC on Thursday before travelling to Drury on Sunday, February 16.
