February 14, 2025 – The Emporia State men rallied after dropping the doubles point to take home a 5-2 win over Seward County CC on Friday at the Kossover Family Tennis Complex.
The Hornets dropped two of three doubles matches to fall behind 1-0, with
Gwendal Mazuay and
Alexis Mattenberger winning the lone doubles match for Emporia State 6-0.
Anton Sarunic won the first set at #1 singles 6-1 before winning due to opponent retirement. Emporia State would win at #3, #4, #5 and #6 singles, including straight set wins by
Mostafa Elbasnaly,
Diego Calvo,
Gwendal Mazuay and
Alexis Mattenberger to secure the 5-2 win on the day.
The next match for the Hornets will come on Sunday, February 16 as they travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on Drury. First serve between the Hornets and Panthers is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
