Emporia State takes on Rockhurst in the final non-conference game of the season.

ABOUT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 4-6, 0-2 in the MIAA. The Hornets have scored at least 70 points in nine of ten games this season. Nine different players have scored in double figures this season. Andrew Pengel is the top scorer at 14.5 points per game. Chris Harris adds 11.4 points and 4.7 rebounds. Trey Redd is averaging 4.9 assists per game.

ABOUT THE HAWKS
Rockhurst is 7-3, 2-1 in the GLVC. They are led by Jaylen Wesley who averages 21.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.  Drenin Dinkins adds 18.6 points per game. They are 1-2 against the MIAA this season.

ABOUT THE COACHES
Tom Billeter is 505-298 in his 28th season as a head coach and is 15-24 in his second season at Emporia State after going 394-224 in 21 years at Augustana. With the Vikings he won the 2016 National Championship, went to nine NCAA Tournaments, won three regular season NSIC Championships, two NSIC Tourney Championships, and 18 consecutive winning seasons. He is 0-1 against Rockhurst.
Kyle Blackbourn is 24-15 in his second year at Rockhurst. He is 1-0 against Emporia State.

SERIES HISTORY WITH THE HAWKS
Emporia State leads the all-time series 49-34. The home team has won six of the last nine in the series with Rockhurst picking up a 109-100 double overtime victory in White Auditorium in 2019, the Hornets winning 97-78 in 2021 in Kansas City and last year's 87-84 win for the Hawks in Emporia as the exceptions. The two met in the 1964 NAIA National Semifinals.

LAST TIME VS ROCKHURST
Playing their final game of 2024 calendar year, Emporia State came up just short in an 87-84 loss to Rockhurst at White Auditorium. There were nine ties and 12 lead changes in a game that neither team took more than a six point lead at any point. 
Malik Edwards led Emporia State with 19 points. He was joined in double figures by Arhman Lewis with 15 while Parker Day and Chris Harris each scored 12 points.  Day added 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Hornet men scored 100 points for the second straight on their way to a 101-58 win over Sterling on Wednesday night from White Auditorium.
There were two ties and four lead changes in the first four minutes. Emporia State used a 17-0 run in under four minutes to take a 38-15 lead with 8:38 left in the half. The Hornets led 57-33 at the half and used an 18-3 run to go up 84-47 with 8:50 left in the game. The lead would reach 44 twice before Emporia State settled into a 101-58 victory.
Two freshmen led five Hornets in double figures. Treyvon Taylor had 18 points and Jack Weigus scored 16 as both recorded career highs.  They were joined in double figures by Devin Conley with 13 points, Dallas Bear with 11 and Chris Harris with ten points.  

UP NEXT
The Hornets will ring in the New Year at Central Missouri on January 1. Tip-off from the Hughes Athletics Center in Warrensburg, Mo. is set for 7:30 p.m.
