November 24, 2025-Lady Hornet guard Kaitlyn Sanders has been named the MIAA Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her efforts last week.
 
The Miami, Fla. native averaged 23.0 points on 60.9% shooting with 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals to lead the Lady Hornets to a pair of wins over former MIAA members Southwest Baptist and Missouri S&T.
 
She scored 22 points on six of nine shooting with five assists, four rebounds and three steals in ESU's 84-61 win at SBU.  She then went for a career high 24 points on eight of 14 shooting with four rebounds and two steals in the Lady Hornets 78-72 home opening win over Missouri S&T. 
 
The Lady Hornets are 2-2 on the season and have won two straight. They are back in action on Tuesday, November 25 when they play host to 2025 NCAA Tournament team Quincy. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 7:00 p.m.
