Hornets Pick Up 92-90 Neutral Site Win Over Lincoln

Late Tip in seals win

November 22, 2025-Emporia State got a tip in from Chris Harris with 13 seconds left to give the Hornets a six point lead on the way to a 92-90 win over Lincoln in a neutral site game at Avila's Mabee Fieldhouse.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a back and forth affair early with four lead changes and a tie in the first seven minutes.  A Max Ekono jumper pulled the Blue Tigers within 21-19 with 11:26 left in the opening half.  The Hornets then went on a 13-3 run to take the lead for good.  Dallas Bear started the run with a three-pointer and Andrew Pengel hit a three with 7:50 left to give Emporia State a 34-22 lead. Ollie Strymisson gave the Hornets a 46-33 lead with 53 seconds left in the half but the Blue Tigers scored the final five points to make it 46-38 at the break.
ESU led by five points with under 12 minutes left in the second half when they went on a 9-2 run to go back up 71-59 with 9:46 remaining. A pair of Devin Conley free throws with 3:31 left gave the Hornets an 83-74 lead when the Blue Tigers went on an 8-1 run and cut the deficit to two on a three-pointer from Tyler Chapman with 1:23 left.  Emporia State would hit the next four points from the free throw line to go up 88-82 with 21 seconds left.  Solomon Oraegbu hit two free throws with 15 seconds left to make it 88-84.  Chris Harris tipped in a missed free throw with 12.6 seconds left to make it 90-87 and Justin Mack hit two free throws with five seconds left to make it a two possession game before the Blue Tigers hit a three at the buzzer for the final score.
 
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Andrew Pengel scored 19 points to lead four Hornets in double figures. He was joined by Dallas Bear with 13 points, Chris Harris with 12 and Trey Redd with ten points and four assists.  Olafur Strymisson had nine points and a team high seven rebounds.
 
UP NEXT
Emporia State will spend Thanksgiving weekend in Oklahoma.  The Hornets will play at Oklahoma Baptist on Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
