November 2, 2025 – Emporia State soccer hosted Northwest Missouri on Sunday afternoon from the ESU Pitch, and the Hornets and Bearcats played to a scoreless draw.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Throughout the first half, neither team gained much advantage over the other, as the match featured multiple counterattacks, but nothing came to fruition. Heading into the halftime break deadlocked at 0-0, both teams had generated five shots and one corner each.
Following the break, the wind shifted to the backs of Emporia State, which prompted a sizable increase in attacking opportunities for the Hornets. The second half featured ten shots and eight corners for Emporia State, but the Hornets were unable to convert on their opportunities, as the clock wound down and the score remained 0-0 until the end.

Emporia State had 15 shots and five attempts on target, while Northwest Missouri had nine shots with six forcing a save by
Mackenzi Goen.
UP NEXT
The final match of the regular season awaits Emporia State, as they travel to take on Washburn in the Turnpike Tussle. Kickoff between the Hornets and Ichabods is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5.

With the draw, the Hornets secured a winning record for the first time under head coach
Jane Grimley-Gunn.
The Hornets have also secured a spot in the MIAA Tournament, and currently are in sixth place in the standings. First round matchups will take place on Sunday, November 9.
