BACK TO BOLIVAR
The Lady Hornets take their first trip to Bolivar, Mo. since 2019 to play at Southwest Baptist. This is the first non-conference game between the two since the Bearcats left the MIAA following the 2018-19 season.

ABOUT THE LADY HORNETS
Emporia State is 0-2 on the season after dropping a pair of neutral site games to NSIC teams in St. Joseph, Mo. over the weekend.  Kaitlyn Sanders is the leading scorer for the Lady Hornets at 16.0 points per game while Makenzie McDaniel adds 8.0 points and 6.5 rebounds after two games.    

ABOUT THE BEARCATS
Southwest Baptist won their opener 102-50 over Ozark Christian College last Friday in Bolivar. Ida Lusadisu N'Gonda had a team high 27 points on 12 of 16 shooting with seven rebounds to lead the Bearcats. They were 8-18 last season with a 6-14 mark in GLVC play.

ABOUT THE COACHES
MJ Baker is 0-2 in her first season with the Lady Hornets and is 51-48 in her fourth year as a head coach at a four year institution. She has won 334 games as a collegiate coach and comes to Emporia State after an eight year run at Eastern Florida State College.  She went 183-58 with three conference championships and three trips to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament during her time.  This is her first meeting with Southwest Baptist.
Wyketha Harrell is 20-35 in her third year at Southwest Baptist. This is his first meeting with Emporia State.

SERIES HISTORY WITH THE BEARCATS
The Lady Hornets lead the all-time series 42-12. Emporia State has won 13 straight and 18 of the last 19 meetings. The two met in White Auditorium in the 2000 Regional Championship game with the Lady Hornets winning 96-59. SBU snapped Emporia State's 62 game home court winning streak on January 17, 2001.   

LAST TIME VS SOUTHWEST BAPTIST
Jessica Wayne scored with 2.0 seconds left to give the Lady Hornets an 80-77 win at Southwest Baptist. Emporia State jumped out to a 10-0 lead to start the game and led 16-11 after one quarter. The Lady Hornets pushed the lead to 11 points at 25-14 and still led by ten with 5:24 left in the half.  The Bearcats would then go on a 13-1 run to take a 33-31 lead with 1:56 left before the teams went to the locker rooms tied at 35. The Lady Hornets went on a 9-0 run to take a 53-44 lead and would push the lead to 58-48 before Morgan Henderson hit back to back buckets to pull SBU within 58-52 with 3:23 remaining in the third. The Lady Hornets held a 73-66 lead with 2:30 remaining when Madison Strong hit back to back to back three-pointers to put the Bearcats up 75-73 with 1:35 remaining. With the game tied at 77 Wayne drove the lane to score and was fouled with 2.0 seconds left.  She hit the free throw to give the Lady Hornets the 80-77 win.  Tyra Jones led Emporia State with 25 points and was joined in double figures by Wayne with 20, Emily Miller with 17 and Addie Lackey with 12 points.  

LAST TIME OUT
A cold third quarter proved costly to the Lady Hornets as they fell 60-48 to MSU-Moorhead on Saturday in the D2 Central Regional Showcase in the St. Joseph Civic Arena.
Both teams started out slow, with the score tied 4-4 at the first media timeout and the Dragons a 10-9 lead after one period. Emporia State outscored MSU-Moorhead 17-16 in the second quarter to send the teams to the locker rooms tied at 26. The Lady Hornets would hit just three of 12 shots in the third quarter. The Dragons used a three pointer with 42 seconds left to take a 43-33 lead into the final quarter.  A 6-2 run to open the fourth got Emporia State within 45-39 before Moorhead answered with a 6-1 run of their own to push the lead 51-40 with 5:03 remaining. 
Kaitlyn Sanders scored 14 points while Makenzie McDaniel added 12 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Hornets.  As a team Emporia State shot 47.8% combined in the second and fourth quarters but only connected at a 25% clip in the first and third.

UP NEXT
The Lady Hornets make their season debut in White Auditorium on Saturday, November 22 when they play host to another former MIAA foe Missouri S&T. Tip-off from White Auditorium is set for 1:30 p.m.
