November 14, 2025 – Emporia State volleyball swept Arkansas-Fort Smith on Friday night, capping off a 21-6 regular season, matching the most wins in a season since 2011.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Emporia State trailed Arkansas-Fort Smith by a few early in set one but gained traction midway through and eventually pulled away for a 25-20 win in the first frame. The momentum carried over into set two, as the Hornets led 14-9 midway through. The Lions trimmed the lead to one point, and with Emporia State leading just 20-18 late in the set, the Hornets scored five of the final six points to take set two 25-19, building a 2-0 lead in the match.
Set three was controlled by the Hornets from the beginning, as they scored the first seven points, and built a 12-3 advantage at the midway point. Emporia State expanded their lead, eventually taking set three 25-12 to clinch the sweep on senior night.
A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State hit .214 in the match and limited the Lions to just .040 at the net.
Delainee Dexter had 12 kills to lead the Hornets and added 17 assists for a double-double.
Nyia Anderson had nine kills and 15 digs in the match.

Emporia State will wait for the conclusion of the MIAA regular season on Saturday before the final seedings for the MIAA Tournament will be released. The Hornets will play in the quarterfinal round on Thursday, November 20 from Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo.
