October 18, 2025 – Emporia State volleyball swept Missouri Southern on Saturday afternoon, sealing their fourth weekend sweep of MIAA action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Emporia State struggled out of the gate, with Missouri Southern taking an early 9-5 lead in the first frame. The Hornets and Lions eventually traded points late in the set, with the Hornets finding a way to pull out the set 26-24.
In set two, the Hornets rolled from the first point, as the lead quickly swelled to 10-3, forcing a Lion timeout. The momentum continued throughout, with Emporia State building a 2-0 lead behind a 25-12 win in the second set.
Set three got off to a similar start to the first, with Missouri Southern taking an early 9-5 lead. After the Hornets tied the match 12-12, neither team led by more than two points until Emporia State took a 23-20 advantage, as they knocked on the door of a sweep. Kills by Krizanic and Dexter picked up kills at the end, sealing a 25-21 third set win and clinching the sweep.

Emporia State hit .237 in the match, with
Lavra Krizanic leading the way, hitting .355 with 14 kills in the match. Missouri Southern was limited to just .106 hitting, with another key advantage being eight service aces by the Hornets.
