SENIOR SUNDAY
Emporia State returns home to begin a four-match home stand that begins with meetings against Rogers State and Northeastern State, with the Hornets honoring their 2025 seniors on Sunday against the Riverhawks.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hornets traveled to the Four States region for matchups with Pittsburg State and Missouri Southern. Emporia State picked up four points on the trip, first playing to a 0-0 draw against the Gorillas despite being down one player over the final 17 minutes and two players in the final eight. They then shutout the Lions on Sunday, with a first-half goal by Megan Jeremias proving to be the difference as ESU continued their unbeaten streak.

In 2023, the Miners had their longest unbeaten streak to start a season since 1997 and made a trip to the GLVC Tournament for the fourth time in school history. She was 1-0-1 against the MIAA in her two years, defeating Missouri Southern and playing to a 0-0 tie against Washburn. Prior to her time in Rolla, Grimley-Gunn was the associate head coach at her alma mater Goldey-Beacom College for four years. In those four seasons, the Lightning went 48-24-4. She was also named a recipient of the "30 under 30" award by the United Soccer Coaches in 2019.Â
A LOOK AT THE HORNETS
Emporia State is 7-3-1 on the season and 4-0-1 in the early stages of the MIAA season after winning their five of their last six and remaining unbeaten in that time frame. Following a 2-0 win on the road against CSU-Pueblo, the Hornets have picked up MIAA wins over Newman, Central Oklahoma, Fort Hays State and Missouri Southern to open conference play, while drawing on the road against Pittsburg State. Since the beginning of conference play, the Hornets have had two players earn MIAA AOTW recognition, with Ella Favot earning honors following opening weekend and Mackenzi Goen being named Goalkeeper of the Week after a pair of shutouts in the last two matches. Favot leads the Hornets with five goals, while six more Hornets have each scored two of their own this season. Along the backline, Peyton Pipes, Ruby Ryan and Aubrey Seltman have been staples in defense for Emporia State this season with senior Abby Bachman patrolling the left side for the Hornets.
SCOUTING THE HILLCATS
Rogers State is 1-5-4 this season and just 1-3-1 in the MIAA, with their win coming against Missouri Southern two weeks ago. Their MIAA slate began with a draw against Missouri Western, where the Hillcats were leading by two goals entering the final minute of play. Elle Beaulieu leads the way with three goals, while Kenzie Macklin and Delana King have both scored two of their own.
