October 10, 2025-Despite playing down one player from the 17:37 mark and down two for the final 8:44, Emporia State battled to a scoreless draw at Pittsburg State on Friday afternoon to earn a point in the MIAA standings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first half saw the Hornets get outshot 6-3 as the Gorillas had a 4-0 advantage in shots on goal.Â
The second half started with Pittsburg State outshooting Emporia State 2-1 in the first ten minutes with another shot by the Hornets getting wiped out by an offside. Emporia State picked up their first yellow card of the match in the 58
th minute by
Mikhaela Goen. The Hornets would get two shots and two corners kicks with a goal wiped out by an offside in the next 15 minutes. Goen was given her second yellow in the 73rd minute putting ESU down a player. That started a string of four cards in five minutes with ESU getting three and Pitt State one. During that time the Hornets were outshot 3-1 but were able to keep the Gorillas off the board.Â
Morgan Davis was given her second yellow with 8:44 left in the match putting the Hornets down two players. Emporia State's defense solidified and allowed just two shots over the final 8:44 to preserve the tie.

A LOOK AT THE STATS
Emporia State was outshot 14-7 overall and had just one shot on goal.Â
Mackenzi Goen recorded  six saves in the match as she notched her 11th career shutout.
