September 29, 2023-Emporai State had a pair of top ten finishes at the Gans Creek Classic on Friday in Columbia, Mo.
Jaime Diaz ran 24:49.5 over eight kilometers to place fourth and lead the Emporia State men to a fifth place showing in the team standings.
Henry Jones joined him in the top 20, running 25:40.8 to place 15th overall.
Tyler Swift was the third Hornet to finish in 23rd place with a time of 25:40.8, while
Luke Gleason and
Asher Moen rounded out the scoring for Emporia State.
Tayler Williams runed in a top ten individual performance to lead the Emporia State women to a tenth place showing in the team standings. She ran 22:42.5 over the six kilometer course to place tenth.
Catherine Lyon was the second Hornet to finish, running 24:33.1 to place 51st overall.
Elizabeth Willhite was the third runner for Emporia State, placing 99th in a time of 26:46.8 while
Madeline Martin and
Koe Schultz rounded out the scoring for the Hornets.
The Hornets will make their return to Jones Park next Friday when they play host to the ESU Invitational. Races will begin at 4:00 p.m. with the women's 5K followed by the men's 8K at 4:45 p.m.
